Privately owned Tau Game Lodge is situated in the Big 5 Malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve. Accessible by scheduled flights, or a 4 hour drive from Johannesburg.
The main body of the Lodge has an impressive reception hall, swimming pool and a comfortable upstairs lounge and bar and dining-room. The chalets at Tau are privately situated in pristine, indigenous gardens and embrace the spirit of Africa with modern luxury and unsurpassed vistas of the bush and the natural waterhole. Families with children of all ages are welcome at Tau Game Lodge. All of our younger visitors become automatic members of the Tau Cubz Club and are entertained with exciting activities.
The state-of the art Tau Game Lodge Convention Centre, which is situated at walking distance from the lodge, can seat up to 150 delegates, while at the Tau Spa Oasis guests are offered rejuvenating spa treatments, surrounded by the beauty of the African Bush.
On entering the Spa you are transported into another world – a calm sanctuary that reflects the soul of Africa with its natural surroundings enhancing your experience. Indulge your senses in a unique fusion of different therapies designed to replenish and soothe body, mind and soul. The spa body treatments are specifically designed to detoxify the body, revitalise the skin and calm the mind. The Spa Oasis experience begins in the Spa reception, which gives access to a variety of treatment rooms; one large double room and two single treatment rooms, one spa bath room with a view, one steam room with private outside shower, a Vichy shower treatment room plus the outside relaxation Sala. A range of massages is available to reduce tension and relieve the cumulative effects of everyday stress. This serene environment is aimed at assisting you to unwind in the natural and tranquil surroundings
Our extensively trained Spa therapists are specialised in treatments ranging from authentic African treatments to hydrotherapy treatments. Guests can create their own Spa experience with our treatment options or they can choose from specially designed Spa package options and they are encouraged to stay after their treatments to enjoy some peaceful time at our secluded relaxation Sala. The Spa oasis also offers wonderful gifts to purchase.
The Nomadic Pride Packages (for Groups) are especially designed to be included as part of a Conference Incentive Group itinerary to rejuvenate and energise the guests. We understand that time is valuable during conferences and have combined specially chosen treatment options into 60 min and 90 min slots.
Only group bookings of minimum 10 guests are eligible for Nomadic Pride Packages and time- slots will be arranged with the conference itinerary in mind and can include after hour bookings Nomadic Pride Packages are to be booked in advance and secured by full payment with the reservations office before the group’s arrival. Please note that Spa guests must bring their bathing costumes for all hydro treatments; i.e steam and hydro bath facilities.

Options of available transport and Directions:
Option 1 - Self Drive:
360 km from Johannesburg, an easy 4 hour drive on National roads (see map) The Parksboard charges a conservation levy of R50 per person on entering the park.
Option A: Directions via N4, Pretoria to Tau:
From Pretoria take the N4 direction Rustenburg
From Johannesberg travel via Fourways to Hartebeestpoortdam, following the signs to Suncity to begin with and once on the N4 continue this toll road to Rustenburg, Swartruggens, Groot Marico and Zeerust.
In Zeerust, turn right at President street onto the R 47 to Gaborone.
You'll reach the first Madikwe Game Reserve gate approximately 90km from Zeerust.
Pass all the gates indicating Madikwe and travel to the Kopfontein border post going towards Gaborone
Turn right onto the Derdepoort Gate road, just before the border post and follow the road for approximately 10 km to the Tau lodge gate. Option B: Directions via N4, Johannesburg to Tau:
From Sandton take N1 North to Pretoria
Take split from N1 to Pietersburg/Polokwane
After the 'Zambezi-offramp' (north of Pretoria) take N4 toll road to Rustenburg and once on the N4 continue this is a toll road to Rustenburg, Swartruggens, Groot Marico and Zeerust.
In Zeerust, turn right at President street onto the R 47 to Gaborone.
You'll reach the first Madikwe Game Reserve gate approximately 90km from Zeerust.
Pass all the gates indicating Madikwe and travel to the Kopfontein border post going towards Gaborone
Turn right onto the Derdepoort Gate road, just before the border post and follow the road for approximately 10 km to the Tau lodge gate. Option C: Directions for driving from Johannesburg and surrounds:
Travel to Fourways shopping centre via Rivonia or N1 South. Take direction to Hartbeespoort Dam. Keep on going straight and then turn left onto the N14 highway in the Krugerdorp direction.
Travel Southwest for a while.
At the four-way stop, turn right onto the N14 towards Ventersdorp.
At the T-junction turn right into the direction of Ventersdorp / Hekpoort.
The road then splits again, take the left fork in the Ventersdorp direction.
Follow this direction for some time until you arrive at a four way junction. Turn right in the Rustenburg direction.
Pass the town Magaliesburg and take the left fork in the road, the R509 to Boons and Derby (+53km)
Proceed through Derby, towards Koster (+17km)
In Koster, turn right towards Swartruggens (R509 for 34km). (This is a toll road)
Turn left at the stop street onto the N4 to Swartruggens, Groot Marico and Zeerust. In zeerust, turn right at President street onto the R47/R49 to Gaborone. Travel to the Kopfontein Border Post, bypassing 2 gates to Madikwe Game Reserve. Turn right onto the sand road (Direction Derdepoort) just before the border post and follow the road for approximately 10km to Tau Lodge Gate.
Tau Game Lodge is a two hour drive from Sun City and 28km from Gaborone Airport in Botswana. Option 2 - By Coach/ Minibus:

Daily scheduled flights depart from Oliver Thambo Airport (Johannesburg International Airport) at 10H30 and 13h30 and currently cost R4 057.00 per person, return. For further information or bookings please contact us.
Daily scheduled flights with Air Botswana to Gaborone from Johannesburg International Airport. Transfers from the Airport to Tau can be organised by tour operators at an extra cost.
Private air charters to the Madikwe Airstrip on request.
